Invisible Cities so far

Here's all the shots of my Invisible Cities project, still a work in progress.
Forgot to take a picture of the drawing finished. But this is when it has the least paint on it.

 Work in progress.

 Finished underpainting.

 Close-up of underpainting.

 Another close-up.

I apologize for the slant of the picture. But this is what I have for the first critique.Of course it still needs work... THAT I already know.

Textures (meant to put these up forever ago)

Two of them still need more work, but that will happen later. Promise!

In order from left to right, going by row.

1. Floor (concrete)
2. Cloth
3. Back of my hand (I apologize the fleshtone looks like a burn victim)
4. Stone
5. Something shiny (my aluminum water bottle thing)
6. Something fuzzy (the mane on a stuffed lion I have)
7. Brick
8. Dirt (needs work, but getting there)
9. Leaf
10. Back of someone else's hand (at like 3/4 view. Sorry)
11. Another leaf
12. My hair (still needs work)

He wanted 12 textures, but for some reason I only had 11 written down. I checked and double checked, and somehow I didn't have 12 to begin with. So I added my hair.

Periodic Table Project

It's been awhile, but I've been working on my periodic table project, with my Gold illustration (NOT my "God" illustration that I almost typed XD).

SOOOOOO... here we go!
The Drawing

The Underpainting
Work in progress
 Another work in progress

The final project

The project isn't done yet, but this is what I have so far. I plan on fixing his skin and the clouds a little bit. He also wants more defined edges, so that will probably happen too. :D

COMPLETELY finished Tableau Vivant.

Finally. Never have to work on this stupid thing ever again.
I'm just glad to be done with it. I think I did basically all I could do to it.

COLOR WHEEL

AT LAST, AFTER FOUR THOUSAND YEARS!! I HAVE FINISHED MY COLOR WHEEL.
This is the finished product. OH MY GOODNESS AND THE BROWN... ERG!!!!
I thought it would be pointless to make the SAME colors in the center as are already ON the color wheel (the primaries and secondaries), so I decided to do this brown. OH MY GOD...
This is what my palette looked like afterwards.............
I saved it... <.<
So next time I need to paint barf or aliens... maybe a cute puppy or kitten.... or bear cub... I know where to go...
yeah.

Still Workin' on That Painting...

Since we tried SOOOOOO HAAAARD (which we did, fo rill), we get MOAR TIME to work on our Tableaus. Mine... is surprisingly getting better. I was very frustrated in critique, but at least everyone thought I had improved on what I had last time.

Also it seems that painting this thing that I hate is much better when I put on my Inspiration playlist on my iPod and sing. Aww, yay!

Finished Tableau Vivant.

Yeah, so, I was thinking "ALRIGHT! I DID IT!" Then I got it critiqued. Basically nobody used the blue, brown, and white in the way that our teacher had in mind, except for like two people. I dunno, if I would've known what he wanted, I would've done that. I succeeded slightly with the grass texture, but he didn't like the blue and brown "sections" (which, mind you, every section has some brown and blue in it, for the most part, even the jeans). And I guess I didn't really succeed as much as I was hoping.

I always feel like maybe I did a good job, then critique comes and it turns out all the things I thought I did well I didn't do as well. I know critique is to help you improve, but I was just hoping I'd done better. Oh well... I know what to fix, but I don't... I've already painted over the background, because everyone hated it, and in all honesty, I don't know WHAT I'm gonna put back there. And the space is awful in this, because I just don't know how to paint that way and "convey space" or whatever like he wants, so... I don't know. I have a week to fix this. Not sure how it's gonna go. At least they said it was a start...?

Thumbnails...

And other preparations for the Tableau Vivant painting!
 Here we have the thumbnails...
Practicing textures that appear in my painting (concrete, grass, furry hood of coat, bike, etc).
More random facial expressions, this time using the burnt umber as well. I was going to do more, from the different angles that weren't straight on, but I sort of messed up (by accident, HA!). But I will get around to more one of these days. I'm sure they will be of use to me for more than just this project.

EXPRESSION STUDIES!

At long last, I've FINALLY finished painting all twelve facial expressions for our expression studies! I'd have to say they turned out MUCH better than I thought they would. I had no idea I could paint like this! :D

I'll try to be as clear about which is which as possible... From left to right, top to bottom, they are as follows.
--Happy
--Relaxed
--Sleepy
--Confused
--Frightened
--Resentful
--Enamored
--Sneaky
--Proud
--Angry
--Nervous
--Over-Caffeinated

He wanted these to be about 3"x3". Obviously I went a little overboard at times. Oops! But I'd have to say that for the most part I'm pleased with how these turned out. :D

Texture Scavenger Hunt!

WARNING!!!
I am absolutely HORRIBLE at conveying textures through paint. You can forget it...
These are my textures. From left to right, they are as follows:
-Dirt
-Leaf
-Stone
-Another Leaf
-Brick
-Cloth, pants

None of them really... succeeded, but that's why I'm in school, isn't it?

EDIT: Last 4 are as follows:
-Cloth, shirt
-Something fuzzy
-The back of my hand
-The floor

Still didn't particularly succeed at these either. But just you wait. Once I post my expression studies, you'll be in AWE!!!
